An unmated female Mediterranean fruit fly (medfly), (Ceratitis capitata) was trapped near Brownsville, Texas, on April 17, 2001. The specimen was trapped approximately two miles north of the Mexican border, and was identified by Dr. Gary Steck of the USDA Agricultural Research Service. A grid of delimiting traps has been set to search for additional specimens.
