State detections of soybean rust (Phakopsora pachyrhizi) continue to rise as another positive leaf sample is confirmed from a field near Memphis, Tennessee. The fungus, spread primarily by wind-borne spores, has now been confirmed in nine states since the first discovery in the United States on November 10, 2004 in Louisiana. Other states with positive identifications include Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Missouri and South Carolina.
