Date posted: April 02, 2001
Source: Dutch Plant Protection (PD)
Brown rot caused by the bacteria Ralstonia solanacearum was found recently in Pelargonium sp. plants (geraniums) in The Netherlands. Ralstonia solanacearum also infects potatoes, so establishment of this bacterium in Pelargonium may endanger potato production. Dutch Plant Protection is conducting an intensive sampling investigation to remove infected material.
