Subject: First report of of the whitefly Aleurotuberculatus aucubae (Homoptera: Aleyrodidae) in North America

On July 23, 2002, Aleurotuberculatus aucubae (Homoptera: Aleyrodidae), a "Q" rated whitefly, was collected by the Fresno County Department of Agriculture. The whitefly was found on Xylosoma sp. and Ulmus sp. This find represents the first time A. aucubae has been detected in California and the Western Hemisphere.

The Fresno County Department of Agriculture conducted a delimiting survey and found it in a restricted area. Additional information will be published in the California Plant Pest and Disease Report.
