Agrilus planipennis (emerald ash borer), the exotic Asian beetle that has killed millions of Ash trees (Fraxinus spp.) in southeastern Michigan and Ontario, Canada, was discovered in a Prince George’s County nursery in Maryland. The majority of the infected trees from the Michigan nursery were destroyed. To ensure the beetle has not spread, the Maryland Department of Agriculture plans to survey areas where 27 of the 121 trees were sold and planted.
