April 7, 2006.  Update to the "List of Plant Genera Regulated for Phytophthora ramorum (Sudden Oak Death) (D-01-01 - Phytosanitary Requirements to Prevent the Entry of Phytophthora ramorum)."

Relative to a previous official pest report for Canada posted on the NAPPO-PAS (01/19/2006) listing the plant genera regulated by Canada to prevent the introduction of Phytophthora ramorum (Sudden Oak Death), the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has recently made some minor modifications to this list.

Genera recently added to the list of plants regulated for P. ramorum include Castanopsis (giant chinkapin), and Ceanothus (blueblossom, ceanothus, New Jersey tea, redheart, redroot, snowbrush, whitethorn).  In addition, as a result of a review of the taxonomy of some of the previously listed hosts, the genus Rhamnus has been removed from the list and replaced with Frangula (Cascara, coffeeberry), while Smilacina has also been removed as it is now considered within the genus Maianthemum.

Le 7 avril 2006. Mise à jour de la « Liste des genres de végétaux réglementés aux fins de la lutte contre le Phytophthora ramorum (encre des chênes rouges) (D-01-01 - Exigences phytosanitaires visant à prévenir l’introduction au Canada du Phytophthora ramorum).

L’Agence canadienne d’inspection des aliments a récemment apporté quelques modifications mineures à la liste susmentionnée dont il était question dans un rapport officiel antérieur pour le Canada diffusé sur le site « Phytosanitary Alert System » de l’Organisation nord-américaine pour la protection des plantes (NAPPO) le 19 janvier 2006.

Les genres récemment ajoutés à la liste en question sont Castanopsis (chinquapin) et Ceanothus (céanothe). Par ailleurs, compte tenu des résultats d’un examen de la taxonomie de certains des hôtes qui figuraient antérieurement sur la liste, le genre Rhamnus a été retranché et remplacé par le genre Frangula (nerprun cascara), et le genre Smilacina a également été retranché puisqu’on considère désormais que les smilacines font en fait partie du genre Maianthemum.
