Subject: Eutetranychus sp. on Florida palms and crotons
Publicada: May 01, 2001
Source: Florida DPI
Eutetranychus sp., an exotic spider mite new to the U. S., was found for the first time recently on palms (Ptychosperma sp.) and crotons (Codiaeum variegatum) in Broward County, Florida. This is a potentially serious pest that causes white blotches, streaking, and chlorosis of leaflets. Crotons, often grown as houseplants or potted ornamentals, may pose a greater pathway risk than palms in terms of transporting these mites.
