Subject: Chrysanthemum white rust eradicated from Canada
Publicada: April 11, 2002
Source: APHIS PPQ
On March 5, 2002 the Canadian Food Inspection Agency declared that Chrysanthemum white rust (CWR), Puccinia horiana, was eradicated from Canada. During the fall of 2001, two transient occurrences of P. horiana were detected near Chilliwack, British Columbia (see the news story dated 11/15/01). Subsequently, the USDA APHIS took regulatory action to prevent the pathogen's spread into the US, placing restrictions on all plants and propagative material from Canada in genera affected by the disease. Due to new information, those restrictions have now been lifted.

For more information on CWR, please see the NAPPO pest alert dated 8/1/00. http://www.pestalert.org/Detail.CFM?recordID=18
